Why this must be read: Long stories are good. Funny stories are good. Long and funny stories are almost never written, and when they are, they should be shared and celebrated. There are a few in this fandom that are already in the memories to this community and I thought I should add this one to the list.
Reading this is genuinely delightful for many reasons, but the best one is quite possibly that the author managed to capture House's and everyone else's voices beautifully, and if you do that you're guaranteed to get at least one laugh. Here's one of the better ones:
He waited for Cuddy to start talking.

"All right, I think we can -- "
"Let me be clear about this," House said. Interrupting Cuddy was a joke that never got old. "We are very busy and important doctors and have lots of life-saving to do of people who aren't stupid enough to crash their SUVs full of children and potentially puppies into a tree. You get one question each, which should be a nice challenge for you. My name is Doctor Gregory House, I'm a diagnostician, that means I tell people what's wrong with them, which is the best job ever. That's Doctor James Wilson, he does something with cancer, I've never really asked."
