The Heart Grows Old by Tenshinya (G)
Hi, I'm Cat and I'll be reccing Pirates of the Caribbean this month. I've recced Pirates here before, but not in quite a while and I'm looking forward to getting back into it with some post-DMC recs. I read a little bit of everything in PotC and pretty much any pairing, but lately it's been more gen and character-centric stories that have been catching my fancy, so that's what I'll mostly be reccing this month.
I'm starting out with a couple great character studies from the recent Norrington ficathon.
Fandom: Pirates of the Caribbean
Pairing: none
Author on LJ:
tenshinya
Author Website: none
Why this must be read:
Five glimpses into the heart of James Norrington, five snapshots of time, each illuminating another aspect of his character, and his fall from grace. The Norrington we meet in Dead Man's Chest is almost a different man from the one we last saw in Curse of the Black Pearl, but as
tenshinya lays it out, it's easy to see how one became the other, how the character traits the raised him up and allowed him to become the proud, accomplished Commodore are the very ones that brought him low again.
