Why this must be read:
Being a rabid (to put it politely) Mulder/Scully 'shipper, it's almost unheard of for me to read, let alone recommend, an 'Other' story. Butleiascully's nuanced grasp of the strong female characters of both Dana Scully and Lisa Cuddy makes for beautifully believable writing. This is the brief story of what might have been, once upon a time.
She had such a serious mouth, Cuddy thought, looking askance at the other woman. Such a serious mouth despite the pretty curve of the lips and she wondered if she looked that way too, solemn and chilly as the morgue, needing a differential diagnosis to figure out a smile.
