Why this must be read:
To follow the most recent episode of Supernatural, a gorgeous piece of het set sometime just before. I would almost call it gen for the way sex is subliminated by Dean and Ellen to pass for actual emotional connection and speaking. These are two people who are deeply uncomfortable with talking about their feelings, but they feel deeply. The back and forth in time sets a quiet tempo that wraps up at the end, a tiny bit of sugar after the salt sting of the note.
Most of all, what I like about it is that the Dean and John Wincester connection is played exactly as it is - family, not kink. Love and loneliness. The Roadhouse being a home and the Wincesters always leaving.
