Why this Must be read.

This was lonelywalkers first NCIS fic that she wrote. Two other sequels to this followed, namely "Parallel Lines" and "Crossing The Lines". It is the first piece of this trilogy  "The Line" that I recommend.
This perfect piece is written in a form of a letter to Gibbs from Ducky. What flows through is a poignant, sometimes sad open hearted letter. The characterisation is intense as this letter of confession proves. The end of this confession leaves us wanting more and lonelywalker did not disappoint with her remaining two sequels that followed.

When I am alone, surrounded by my papers, my music, and too many memories, I have a favourite question to ponder. In a life defined by boundaries so carefully marked long ago, I look at these boundaries now and wonder – is a line drawn so that it can protect us from ourselves, or is it drawn so that it may someday be crossed? I expect, my dear Jethro, that you already know the answer I seek.
