Why this must be read:

I have quibbles with the opening lines, but then the story hits its stride and the tone sets to this stark driven dreaming blur. I think the clinical tone of the opening is what makes the warmth of the ending balance - there's no sweetness here, but there's warmth and affection and unspoken acceptance.

There's a lot of silences in this story and the events in it - Sam dreams of fucking Dean and one night he does, silently. They don't talk about it. They don't touch until Dean ties up Sam and climbs on top of him. Things are poised to go completely off the rails until suddenly, they align and it works. There are no conversations, no declarations of love or even particular like. But the depth of their want and the way they draw to each other comes through hard in this bare and physical story.
