Foxes and Wolverines by CJ (PG+)
Fandom: X-Men Movieverse
Pairing: Wolverine/Rogue

Why this must be read: For my last rec of the month, I’d like to offer a trilogy of stories by CJ (one of the first good, true, solid, friends I made in the X-Men Movieverse fandom).
CJ is known especially for her songfics, (well that’s what I read first of hers and she has written a lot of them) but this isn’t one of them. She is an excellent writer though, no matter what subject matter she tackles!
In these stories she puts a twist on the standard “let’s explore the animal side of the Wolverine” that is a popular theme in Logan/Marie shipper fics. She explores the idea that all of the animalistic tendencies that Marie may exhibit, might not be because she has the Wolverine in her head.
Marie may just naturally have a healthy dose of her own animal--a fox called The Rogue.
During the course of the three stories, she explores:
1) How The Rogue vies for dominance over the other females at the X Mansion (trying to take away the “Alpha Female” position from Jean);
2) How the fox-like qualities of The Rogue helped Marie survive on the streets, after leaving Mississippi and before meeting Logan in Laughlin City;
3) How her animal side makes her an excellent member of the X-Men team; and,
4) How her fox-like tendencies are recognized and responded to by The Wolverine (i.e. he believes she is a worthy mate), while Logan is a bit slower on the uptake.
CJ peppers these stories with some research she did on the behavior of actual foxes and wolverines. All in all, the stories are wonderfully written, and are full of both UST (unresolved sexual tension) and humor!

X-Men Movieverse is a wonderful fandom and I enjoy participating in it very much! I’ve had a lot of fun taking the time to reread and revisit some of my favorite stories and authors over the last month and I hope that some of you have enjoyed my recommendations.

Sorry, but CJ retired from fandom and had all of her stories removed from the various archives. I wish she hadn't but she did.
