Foresight, by LaT (PG)
Greetings! I'm
gothphyle, and I'll be your due South driver for the month of April. You may expect from me Fraser/RayK stories, with a bias toward character studies. I hope you enjoy! Now, on to the good stuff :)
Fandom: due South
Pairing: none, but hints of Fraser/RayK in future
Author on LJ:
latxcvi
Author's Website: http://www.mrks.org/~lat/
Why this must be read:
This story offers a fascinating look into Ray Kowalski on the brink of "becoming" Vecchio, and also gives us a chance to see Ray's reaction to the sight of Fraser before they formally meet. It's thoughtful, and tightly narrated, and a marvelous understated take on Kowalski. This is a perfect example of LaT's writing, and that alone is reason enough to read; if that doesn't pique your interest you should read to see how this "outsider's" tale weaves in little bits of cannon that make it seem very, very "real" in the dS universe.
Ray can see the man clearly, as clearly as one with eyesight as blurry as his could be expected to, and it's just ... he's just ... Ray actually coughs because outside of Stella at 13, he's sure he's never seen anything quite so completely beautiful as this man, carrying a coffin, and wearing the wrong color for a day of sorrow.
