Why this must be read: A futurefic, this story could easily be an epilogue to any of the three movies (I mean, provided that this threesome all survive At World’s End). Once a year, “the Widow,” about whom many scandalous legends swirl, sets aside a day to mourn her late husband, William Turner. She is gradually joined in vigil by “the Admiral” and “the Pirate”. There is a sense of camaraderie amongst the three of them, even though few words are exchanged. The past itself almost becomes a fourth party in this polyfic, written for the
