There’s something very Dana Scully about James Norrington: he’s *never* willing to believe a supernatural explanation for anything—usually until it tries to kill him.
Therefore, his rescuer from the hurricane in this fic is definitely the last, er, person he’d expect.
This is an original character which made me gleeful to read (instead of scrambling for the Back button as I usually do with OCs). James is perfectly rendered as well: in turns, regretful, snarky, clever, desperately trying to hold on to his dignity, but just beginning the downward spiral from Commodore to Scruffington.
