Why this must be read:
Breathes there somewhere a Sherlock Holmes fan who ism't aware that Holmes "died" at Reichenbach Falls? (Doyle was tired of the character.) Three years later Holmes miraculously reappears in "The Adventure of the Empty House" with his usual dramatics and causes Watson to swoon.
The problem with Doyle's story is that it is told strictly from Watson's POV. We are reading his write-up from his journal, after all. As a result, we get a good understanding of Watson's emotions and responses to Holmes' reappearance, but no real indication as to how Holmes feels. "221B " fills in that gap as it is narrated by Holmes and, for once, we can see inside his head.
