VID REC: Supernatural - I Ain't Scared of Lightning
I had out-of-town guests come in last night, so if the mods don't object, I'll make my vid rec a Saturday afternoon drive-in instead.
Vidder: LithiumDoll
Musical artist: Tom McRae
Pairing: none
Vidder on LJ:
halcyon_shift
Vidder's website: Alter Idem
Why this vid kicks ass:
When your canon has only one season and one episode's worth of footage, it's easy for the viewer to become over-used to the big money shots that show up in every single vid. One of my favorite things about this vid (aside from song choice and, um, everything else) is the subtlety with which it weaves around the obvious drama, giving us the last moments of peace before the strike of horror.
And so this beautiful, bittersweet, and aching vid tells John's story from "In My Time of Dying." Tom McRae's song is short - only a minute twenty-odd seconds - but every frame counts. John makes his choices, and he's not afraid.
