Why this must be read:

Open Channel D. [livejournal.com profile] st_crispins here. I didn’t quite finish my light-hearted summer recs in June, so I’m back behind the wheel, taking the spymobile for another spin.

Unlike most television series today, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. didn’t have a large regular cast. There were the agents, Solo and Kuryakin, and their boss, Alexander Waverly, and that was pretty much it. (MFU has no shipping wars since there’s only pretty much only one ship.)

Nevertheless, background characters did pop up from time to time and a few, mostly on staff at U.N.C.L.E. HQ in New York were reoccurring.

One of the most familiar was Del Floria, the guy who manned the tailor shop. Was he a real tailor or actually an agent playing a role? We never found out. But like Cerberus guarding the gates to the Underworld, Del Floria was the first line of defense at U.N.C.L.E. HQ in New York. If you wanted to enter the fortress by way of pulling the coat hook in the middle dressing cubicle, Del had to flick the steam press a couple of times to release the hook. No steam, no entry (as Solo discovered once in The Fox and Hounds Affair).

So who was this mysterious man? In this short piece, [livejournal.com profile] wiccagirl24 offers a possible backstory.
