Fandom: DS9
Pairing: Bashir/O'Brien
Author on LJ: No.
Author Website: The Champagne Glass
Why this must be read:

Mainly because it's very popular, as far as this quiet fandom ever gets to embrace The Popularity. It's nice and long (the rest of the series is linked to on the main page of the website), so you can get nicely immersed in fic for a few hours and forget about the real world.

The doctor paused, then said "What would make it easier for you to start seeing Julian again? One more time, pretend I'm him. What might I do to make you more comfortable?"

"Simple. As long as he doesn't...*look* at me like that, or get too close to me, he doesn't bother me at all. But how can I tell him that? 'Don't look at me, Julian, I hate it'?"

"Get too close to you? Do you mean physically close?"

"Yes, or any other way. There's a look he gets, and..." Miles trailed off.

Sensing he'd better alleviate some of the pressure, Julian ventured "Well, you were forced into physical proximity with someone for a subjective eternity. I'm sure it's become instinctive to try to maintain your own space."

"Yeah, but Julian can get into my space from the other side of the room."

It's also just about the only long fic with this pairing, which has always tended to be the slashy second fiddle to Garak/Bashir. Yes, it might have spawned a parody fic, and yes it may make you cringe in places, but isn't that part of The Joy of Fic? And any BOBslash fic that actually gives O'Brien's wife Keiko a say in the matter has to be worth reading, no? Indulge your repressed inner romantic. Go on...

Huh. This author's site seems to have gone poof. Any idea where it is now?

So, this might be way out of nowhere, but I was browsing through the memories here when I saw your question. I haven't been able to find the author's current website, but you can always use the Internet Archive: Wayback Machine (http://www.archive.org/web/web.php) to find pages that have disappeared from the 'Net. You can find the archive of the author's site here (http://web.archive.org/web/20021130060747/http://home.mindspring.com/~bluecham/). (You might have to hit 'Ctrl+A' to read the site, the Wayback machine only saves text, I think, not images.)
