Why this must be read: It picks up after Sweet Revenge and brings back the most hated man in canon, James Marshall Gunther. Long hailed as THE fanfic for Starsky/Hutch, I whole-heartedly agree with that assumption. TEotH has good characterization, wonderful Suzan Lovett illos, a great plot, wonderful Suzan Lovett illos, a believeable shift from gen to slash pairing, wonderful Suzan Lovett illos, a wealth of emotions from the part of the characters, and did I mention wonderful Suzan Lovett illos?:)

I'm up against THIS zine for best novel at the ZebraCon Huggies awards this year;) I told my friends that I'm probably gonna vote for Flamingo over myself because it such a good zine and remains one of the best pieces of work in any fandom that I've read.

I'm debating whether I should rec Distant Shores at some point in the future (because I love the zine and I sat down and read it in one day), but considering it's 450 pages, Hutch is never the same again, and they're not really back together for a LONG time...it might be one of those recs that should reamin in the "I know the characters so well, I've been in the fandom so long, give me a story that turns everything on its head."

Don't read this story if you're just starting in SH because you need the canon references of Death in a Different Place and Sweet Revenge and all the things that have come before. The arc of the characterization that built up over the course of the show is vital to this story. Save this one to read later because it will mean so much more to you if you do.

Yeah, I've just gotten started. I'm still only on season 1 (do you know which season those episodes take place in?)

If you have any pre-show recs (like when they first meet) or general season one recs that would be great :) I figure I'll leave off these recs for a while and come back to them once I'm caught up on the show.

You can do a specific episode-related search here: http://meandthee.shahrazad.net/search.php so that you can read stories surrounding the eps you've seen so far. Alot of the pre-show stories that I'd rec foreshadows things that happen in the show, in future eps, so it wouldn't make much sense to read them before seeing those specific eps.

DIADP, the gay ep, is the beginning of Season 3...and it's the beginning of a definite change in their relationship. SR is the last ep of the series, S4, and it's gonna impact any and all stories you read post-series....so, yeah, watch the show first and then come back to this zine because it's worth it.
