Evan is one of several good writers to come along lately. Most of his pieces have an undercurrent of humor and are very clever. This one is slightly more serious, although there are still laughs to be found.

Written for the mfuwss challenge "Quarrel" it features our two heroes in bad moods. They've gone beyond bantering and are sniping at each other, scaring away anyone who comes across their path. And Illya's nose won't stop hurting, just to make things worse. Has the partnership run its course? Has Thrush done something to them?

[Illya] felt a surge of victory. It didn't matter what that victory was, he realized; all that counted was that he was winning. So he pressed his advantage and followed Napoleon backwards, knocking the backs of his knees against the chair and catching his weight as he stumbled.

He leaned in as close as he could without touching, and he purred, "Do you have something to share with the class, Mister Solo?"
