Denied My Senses by Ren (PG-13)

Hi I'm [livejournal.com profile] toomuchfandom, and I'll be the van driver for NCIS this month!

Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Leroy Jethro Gibbs/Donald "Ducky" Mallard
Length: 990 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] feenixandashes
Why this must be read:

Ren hasn't written anything for the NCIS fandom for about a year, so I was really happy when she posted this little gem!

What I love about Ren's writing style is that her fics usually read like pure poetry. It's lyrical, well-balanced and just absolutely brilliant.

Denied my senses is no exception.  The first read just blew me away and it keeps blowing me away whenever I read it. Ren writes from Ducky's point of view and describes perfectly what Gibbs/Ducky slashers (well the majority of them!) see when writing this pair.

If you haven't read any Gibbs/Ducky stories so far, try this one. Remember, Gibbs and Ducky are older, not dead!

Color means nothing when you are not around to share it with me.
I merely see the gray and monochrome.
My perception changes in your care, as halos of light and warmth spread and glorious rainbows of shades pass through me.
Everything becomes more intense, and so blindingly light that I briefly shut out the very thing I need to be open to.
Sight is more than the frequency of photons of light, amplitude and intensity.
It is more than simple vision or a means of recording an event relaying it to memory.
I crave the brightness of you.
