The relationship between Mulder and Maggie Scully was ambiguous on the show, and it's portrayed in many different ways in fic. This vignette, which takes up Mrs Scully's POV, doesn't go to either extreme - she doesn't hate Mulder, but he's not her long-lost son, either - and I think it is a measured and insightful look at the ambivalent feelings Maggie Scully probably has about Mulder. It's definitely worth your time.

Fabulous rec. Just a gorgeous combination of grief and love with flashes of insight that really flesh out the character of Maggie Scully. For my money, I'd guess that's pretty spot on for how Maggie feels about Mulder and the whole cancer situation.
