Ek is a fairly new Smallville writer. This story is set within her larger Epoch universe, although the story stands on its own. It's a look at Chloe and Bruce and the way in which these two characters could come together sometime in the future. It's angst-heavy but done with a deft touch. Her ability to capture the raw emotions of both Chloe and Bruce make this story stunning. Both Chloe and Bruce are damaged and this story deals with how two people like that can come together. It's not easy nor it is a fairytale, but it's realistic and poignant.

When Chloe Sullivan met Bruce Wayne she thought he was a pompous ass. When she dug a little deeper and learned he was the Batman, she thought he was a dangerous, pompous ass. The wholly phallic, masculine strut in his walk only confirmed his arrogance and elevated righteousness. Whether as Wayne or Batman, he clung to an indignant and vain vigilanteism.
