Why it should be read: Don't be fooled by the rating - this may be the most authentic, noir season 1 Napoleon in fiction I've ever read. This is drworm's first story in the fandom but I sincerely hope he writes more because he's perfectly distilled the essence of UNCLE NY's CEA into this intense ficlet. The laconic narrative is taught with the sharp, visceral reality of the prolonged agony and boredom of a nighttime stakeout; you can see how Napoleon's flamboyantly devil may care tendencies became fully-fledged. Whether Napoleon's hooked on the rush of continually giving death the finger, fears going soft and dull in the routine stillness or travels between these two is up for the reader to ponder. I read this and thought damn, I didn't think standards for first time writers for the fandom could rise any higher. I was definitely glad to be proven wrong!
