Look, my favourite story of all time is the one where Pete Wentz, Gabe Saporta and Bert McCracken, the bad, bad men of bandom, all get together and take over the world and all the h8rs sob themselves to sleep in their prison cells. Except Gerard Way, who Bert decides to keep as a pet.

But that story hasn’t been written yet, so this month I’ll be recommending stories that, in whatever beautiful way, best approach that same sense of the sublime.

Why this must be read:

There are those who search, in their fanfic reading, for a rendition of the closest possible approximation of the "truth" about the characters they play with, and it's no different in RPF fandoms. I am not one of those people, and in this story, valerie_z is not one of those writers. No, in this story, Gerard plans his perfect princess wedding.

"Good riddance," Gerard said once they'd left and he was sitting at the kitchen table with Frank.

"Yeah," Frank said. "We don't need those crazy girls."

"Now that they're gone we can do cool guy things."

Frank opened his binder and turned to a page of text samples. "Let's talk about fonts."

So it's lolarious and ludicrous but somehow, in the end, weirdly moving. Which, actually, is a pretty accurate depiction of MCR, overall.
