sdwolfpup and brynnmck are two of my very favorite writers in the due South fandom, and I was going to save this fic for later, but I watched Juliet is Bleeding last night and felt compelled to share this story with you right away. It's simply perfect.

It's simply perfect.After Irene Zuko's death, Ray is shattered. Fraser can feel him pulling away and he's desperate to help. For once, however, Fraser just doesn't know what to do.
Ray Vecchio was big gestures and deliberate slang and a smile like the sun after a long winter, and to see him like this, quiet and still and so blank, was disturbing on a fundamental level. Fraser had defined his life by his service to others, to his sense of right, and this was the man he was closest to in the world; the desire to fix things was as overwhelming as it was fruitless. He couldn't bring Irene back.
