Why this must be read:

I have to admit, this one is pure indulgence on my part. I love stories about Clark and Lex, set in the early days of the show. The days that Clark blushed and stammered around Lex and Lex enjoyed teasing him. This story has a lot of all of that. In fact it is one long tease and blush fest until the sixth part, then it becomes a little bit more.

Lex didn’t answer, choosing instead to just toss his purchase on the counter and watch with interest as Clark looked down and realized what it is. The blush started along his cheekbones and spread prettily down his neck.

Clark cleared his throat. "Is that all?" One latex condom, plain, so cheap it wasn’t even sized.

A condom. Lex was buying a condom. From a convenience store. A condom.

Clark swallowed and cleared his throat, absolutely refusing to allow his imagination, which had been so very active while he was sleeping of late, to invade his waking thoughts as well. Lex, meanwhile, looked calm and collected as ever. "That’s it," he affirmed easily.

"That’ll be...um...25 cents."

Lex checked his watch, ascertaining that it was after 9 pm. He tossed a 50 dollar bill on the counter in recognition of how late it was. Otherwise, he’d have dug out at last a $100. "Are you all right, Clark? You look," sinfully delicious, "flushed."

"Fi-" Clark realized he was squeaking, and firmly told his voicebox that puberty was a very long time ago, "Fine."

Authors' summary: Clark needs a bit of money, and finds a summer job at a gas station. Little does he know that Lex is going to show up daily to make a certain purchase.
