Why this must be read: I missed crossover day! That made me so sad I can't even express it. So... I'm making up for it now and hope the mods forgive my lateness!

Blood of the Saints and it's sequel, Every Time I Look in the Mirror, are based on a concept that is done amazingly well. Blood of the Saints crosses over with Constatine, and Constantine's voice is pitch perfect and his opinion of the MacManus twins is sharp, biting and blunt. The plot is subtle, but very present, and the idea behind the plot is vastly engaging.

The sequel, Every Time I Look in the Mirror, takes place after a time jump of irrelevant length and crosses over the MacManus brothers with the Winchester brothers. The twincest is far more subtle and this story can be read without reading Blood of the Saints, as long as you read the author's notes. I was completely enthralled by this fic and knew I wanted to rec it as soon as the mods tapped me for the month!

Both fics are pitch perfect, but the sequel is really the fic I wanted to rec here. I hope you all enjoy them both!

This will be my last BDS rec and it's been a hell of a ride. :D

Excerpt from Blood of the Saints: Together they move with purpose, dividing the room, guns firing as they aim on instinct. A ritual circle is drawn with chalk on the cement floor. The men standing at the cardinal points are too wrapped up in the ceremony. Weapons are drawn too late. They fall and bleed and die as the brothers shoot. A figure straightens in the center. Inhumanly tall and slender and beautiful, the demon half-breed tosses aside the limp corpse of a small child and turns on the intruders. I feel Murphy's surprise. They weren’t expecting to face something so dark--they thought they were interrupting a drug deal, maybe a mob meeting. Instead, they're a minute too late to stop a human sacrifice.

The half-demon is clothed throat to boot-heels in slick black vinyl. Her skin is pale, her hair the color of arterial spray. As one they point their guns and pull the triggers. Ragged holes open in her body suit but she doesn’t seem to feel it. A gesture of her hand and the brothers fly backwards. It feels like falling out of a building, complete with that sudden stop at the end.

Excerpt from Every Time I Look in the Mirror: They keep doing what they do--the family business, saving lives, hunting evil. They really don't know how to stop, how to not notice things in the paper. Sam dreams, and how the hell do you see something like that and not do anything? So when Sam wakes up in their hotel in Tempe, sweating and screaming, and says "Texas," Dean bitches about states you can't drive across in a day and leaving in the middle of the night when check-out isn't until eleven, but he gets the car packed up and Sam on his feet and doesn't ask where or why until the Vicodin's kicked in.
