Deceptively folksy and engaging language that reminds you of the peculiar enchantment of reading and the magic cast by great storytelling. A seemingly cliché storyline - amnesiac agent - retold in a way that feels new while inspiring you to rethink the big questions - choice, identity, epistemology (how do we know what we know?) and trust. Napoleon and Illya are familiar to us as always (azdak knows Napoleon better than he knows himself), but the latter not known to himself or even his partner in some ways.

Yes, it's a story written by azdak, and you know you want to put down whatever it is that you're doing and read (or reread) this story now.

You're quite welcome! I'm still amazed each time I read it by how openly azdak explores these issues without casting judgment and balances all that tricky plotting, too. Most of the texts I have to read for class haven't made me rethink those issues as much as this story did.
