Five Minute "Emissary" by Zeke (PG)
Fandom: DEEP SPACE NINE
Pairing: none
Length: 15k
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: FiveMinute.net
Why this must be read:
Zeke is renowned for his five minute website that takes Star Trek episodes (and so much more) and condenses them into summaries that can be read in. . . you’ve guessed it. Zeke is also one of my favourite Deep Space Nine précis producers, and his version of the series premiere Emissary is a hilarious and pithy analysis of DS9’s strengths and weaknesses.
Have a taste:
Jadzia: I've easily located the Celestial Temple.
Sisko: If it's that easy, why didn't the Cardassians do it?
Jadzia: They probably wanted us to go first and test for sharks.
Sisko: Let's roll.
Whether you’ve seen the episode or not, Five Minute "Emissary" is definitely a thinking man or woman’s crack. Much like the show itself, come to think of it.

Be sure to check out the other DS9 five minute episodes. The ones written by Zeke and Derek Dean are especially good.

And hey, I remember you! You're Elizabeth Helena, who used to quote my site all the time in Usenet signatures! That really made my day when I discovered it, and I was sure to show the other writers where you'd quoted them too. Cool to see you again.

You're welcome. It's wholly deserved.
Like most fic/parody writers (heck, most writers in general), I'm a little embarrassed about some of my older stuff.
Oh yes. There are a number of my old stories that make me cringe. Heck, what I wrote six months ago makes me cringe.
Nice to see some people still think it's funny.
Your five minute "Way of the Warrior" is my all time favourite. Cracks me up every single time. I chose "Emissary" as it's a good introduction to the characters and premise of the show. And yes, it's still funny as hell.

Wow, I can't believe you remember that! Five minute net was a wonderful source for sci fi and Trek quotes. That's the sad thing about lj, no more quotes.

Bless your heart, I'm so glad you did that. I'm terrible at giving feedback. I keep meaning to... and years pass.

I have a friend who does the exact same thing. And I'm very glad this review has sent some people your way. Take care.
