To Say Goodbye Again, by Deneba (R)
Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: John/Aeryn
Author on LJ: not on LJ
Author Website:http://www.deneba.blogspot.com/ (though I don't think Deneba updates anymore)
Why this must be read: Deneba pulls no punches in this visceral tale of a woman who learnt to love when it was too late. This is bleak storytelling that tugs at more than mere heartstrings. It's grim, and all too real and possible. One of the joys of Farscape is that it lends itself to a wintry bleakness. Wrap round your scarves and pull on your mittens.
Excerpt: "Hopeless romantic," she'd thought wearily as she trudged off the transport pod with Crichton mute beside her. He knew better now than to talk to her unless absolutely necessary; she'd shot him down so many times in the past that he'd finally stopped trying. He only spoke to her with those burdensome glances that he thought she didn't notice.
