Why this must be read: I love this story. It's sad, it's sweet, it's well-written. It's a Seth/Ryan written from Kirsten's point of view. In it, Ryan first comes out to Sandy and Kirsten complete with the worry of them kicking him out. Evenutally Ryan starts dating which upsets Seth leading to a confrontation between the two and a happy resolution.
Vera pulls this story off perfectly, balancing Kirsten's growing affection for Ryan, her worry about Ryan navigating the gay teen social scene, and, finally, Kirsten's acceptance of a relationship between Seth and Ryan. If my description still hasn't intrigued you, try this line from the fic. If this line doesn't get to you, then you're cold, dude, cold.
She goes to check on them later...because she’s their mom and she needs to know that everything is okay.
