Bloodlines by Xenokattz

Hello, I'm [livejournal.com profile] tobywolf13 and I'll be driving the Crack Van this month. I'll try to do a range of fics, although Chloe fics are a personal fave, I'll be looking to put up some Clex, Clois, and maybe a few more uncommon pairings that I've always liked. So, buckle up and enjoy!

Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lois, Pete/Lana, mentions of past Clark/Lana
Length: Novel Length
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] xenokattz
Author Website: http://xenokattz.livejournal.com/tag/fanfic:+bloodlines
Why this must be read:

The lovely [livejournal.com profile] xenokattz recced some great fics last month but hers should not be missed in the least. She takes a story that weaves Smallville's mythology and the greater DCU seamlessly together. It's a story that takes an alternate look at Lana's pregnancy and the conspiracy surrounding it is gnarled enough to entangle her, Chloe, Clark, and Lex. It's something some complicated and strained that it takes over a decade and the team of Lane and Kent (with a lot of the Justice League thrown in) to work toward saving the day. Presidential Lex Luthor, 33.1, murders, plots reaching across Europe, a mystery so taught that even The Da Vinci Code would be envious. It's all here and it's all superb. I envy everyone who gets to read it in one sitting, and I know you will.

Conner's shock broke on a much more heated note. "If this is about living with him, I'm not going to do it. I've been fine all this time without him and I sure as hell don't want anything to do with him now!"

Clark visibly crumpled at his words. Family meant so much to him, not only because of his upbringing but because he knew he was the last of his kind. To have a blood relative say something like that... stabbing him with a shard of kryptonite would have been kinder.

Her temper stoked, Lois marched up to the teenager and poked her finger into his chest. "Listen, buddy, we might not have known you but I know Chloe and she would have been damned pissed off that you're talking to someone you barely know like that."

Discreetly, Boutboul cleared his throat and shut the rest of the hallway out of the erupting drama. "Ladies, gentlemen, if you haven't already deduced, this is Conner Sullivan, Chloe Sullivan's son."

"And he's is so out of here, you won't even have time to eat his dust." Conner made for the door but Boutboul was there before him. For a little guy, he was pretty spry, Lois reflected.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Sullivan, but your mother's will explicitly requires you to stay here with the rest of the guests until this evening." Boutboul pulled a package out of his briefcase. It was wrapped in brown paper and otherwise featureless. "As soon as I leave the room, you may open this package. I will return at eleven o' clock sharp with the rest of the instructions. Good day, gentlemen, ladies." With a smart little bow, he marched out of the door.

Now, if only to see what the package contains...

Oh, yes. I remember waiting for those updates, too! When a good fic comes along, you don't want to wait.

I can't wait to see the rest of your recs!

Heee! Thanks for the awesome review! I really appreciate how you said it transcends ships 'cause really, I think of this as a gen/action fic with a side of romance. Ever so pleased you liked it enough to rec it.

Thanks again!

Awww, thanks so much! You're so very, very kind. :D

Plotting involved an Excel sheet and, in the early part, writing backwards; that is, I wrote out the climax and work my way back.

Thanks again!

This story is very addictive. I read it in 2 chunks when it was being posted (the first couple parts and then the last parts; I'm weird). It's probably awesome in just one sitting. It should be like required reading for fanfiction writers on how to write a good mystery.
