Why this must be read: Fraser's relationship with Victoria is an important piece of the puzzle of his life, but she's often treated as evil and with no redeeming qualities in fan fiction. Zabira writes her as human, but flawed. She doesn't excuse what Victoria does, but the backstory she gives her makes us understand where she's coming from.

The story touched me deeply, not just because of how Victoria is written, but because of the perspective it gave me on Fraser. He's so young and vulnerable and convinced that if he just does the right thing, it'll all be okay. But it won't. And still, it really is a love story. Fraser kind of shines through, even in the end when she also hates him.

This is such a fabulous rec. Z did an amazing job on the story, and you're absolutely right: she managed to humanize Victoria without exonerating her. It was a really tough story for Z to write - she pulled a lot of long hours and it took her months and months of work. I'm so glad to see the story getting some recognition! *hugs you*
