Why this must be read:
“Sometimes it felt as if he'd never been away,” is the first line.
“Crosscurrents” hooked me with with the opening paragraph. The guys are sitting on an ubiquitous hillside, during an ubiquitous stake-out, and having a classic conversation. Then comes the realization that it's now five months after Starsky’s been back on the job after Gunther’s bullets, giving the whole scene a different feel altogether.
It's got Rosey Malone (!), Welles, Jenny Brown, and a full cast of characters that wove themselves in "Sweet Revenge," all mixed-up in a way I see it in my head.
This bit of art is complicated, intricate, heartbreaking at times, and all with a beautiful truth.
