Chuck Fandom Overview
Hello, I'm
secondalto and I'll be your driver for Chuck. This is the first time Chuck has been featured, so below you will find a fandom overview. Spoilers through Chuck vs. the Gravitron. With thanks to
fiareynne for giving this a look over.
PLOT: Chuck Bartowski is an everyday guy working for the Nerd Herd at the local Buy More. His life consists of going out on service calls and hanging with his best buddy Morgan Grimes. He lives with his sister Ellie and her boyfriend Devon Woodcomb. Then one night, he receives an e-mail from an old college friend, Bryce Larkin. Chuck opens the e-mail, solves a puzzle and is bombarded by a ton of information. Turns out Bryce stole information from the government, certain sensitive data known as The Intersect, and sent it to Chuck in the e-mail just before he's shot by an NSA agent. Now Chuck has all this information in his brain.
He begins to "flash" on certain things by seeing people, information or pictures. He is tracked down by two agents, Sarah Walker of the CIA and Major John Casey of the NSA, they want the information. Unfortunately there is no way to get the information from Chuck's head. They are summarily assigned to protect Chuck while the government figures out how to either a) remove the information from Chuck's head or b) build a new Intersect. Chuck must keep this side of his life from his friends and family. The agents go undercover, Sarah at the nearby Wienerlicious (which is now the Orange Orange) and Casey at the Buy More.
It is eventually revealed that Bryce is still alive and working for a rogue agency known as Fulcrum. He also used to work for the CIA, with Sarah. He also is responsible for getting Chuck kicked out of Stanford, because he didn't want Chuck to be recruited by the CIA. He also stole Chuck's girlfriend, Jill Roberts. In recent episodes, it has been revealed that Jill is a Fulcrum agent. She came back into Chuck's life and broke his heart again. At the end of the first season, the government had rebuilt the Intersect and Casey's boss, General Beckman, ordered him to kill Chuck. The beginning of the second season found Casey about to shoot Chuck, but the new Intersect was blown up, by Fulcrum, taking out Sarah's boss, Director Graham. Bryce has also shown up, returned to the CIA and given Chuck an "upgrade" to the Intersect.
CHARACTERS:
Charles "Chuck" Irving Bartowski(Zachary Levi):
The titualr hero of the show. He was kicked out of Stanford (twelve credits shy of his degree) when his former best friend, Bryce Larkin, accused him of cheating on a test. We now know that Bryce planted evidence so that Chuck wouldn't be recruited by the CIA. He ended up working at the Buy More as part of the Nerd Herd, the geeks who fix computers. He lives with his sister Ellie and her boyfriend Devon, who are both doctors. His best friend is fellow Buy More employee Morgan Grimes. They've been friends over 20 years. While at Stanford, he had a girlfriend Jill, she's a Fulcrum agent. Since then he's been involved with Lou, a sandwich shop owner who named a sandwich after Chuck. It didn't work out between them. While trying to keep the fact that he has the Intersect in his head a secret, Chuck has been pretending to date Sarah, until this season.
Agent Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski):
Works for the CIA, one of Chuck's handlers. Sarah Walker is not her real name, we don't know it. She was recruited in high school by Agent Graham after he arrested her father. She used to date Bryce Larkin when they were partners. She is now pretending to date Chuck to keep his identity as the Intersect a secret. She finds herself falling for him. As part of her undercover identity she orginally woked at the Wienerlicious and now works at the Orange Orange (a frozen yogurt store). The new base for all the missions they go on is now housed under the Orange Orange (it used to be the home theatre room of the Buy More).
Major John Casey (Adam Baldwin):
It's assumed that Casey may have been in the Air Force, but other than that we know nothing of his life. He works for the NSA under General Beckman and was originally tasked to kill Chuck until his orders changed. He works at the Buy More with Chuck where he's not entrirely comfortable. At the end of season one, with the completion of a new Intersect, he was ordered to assissinate Chuck, which he was reluctant to do. Luckily he did not have to carry out this order as the new Intersect was blown up. His only love interest, canonically, is Ilsa, an undercover French spy who he knew as an AP reporter. She called him "Sugar Bear". Casey lives in the same apartment complex as Chuck, specifically in an apartment that he can see Chuck's place from. He also enjoys taking care of a bonsai tree and had an unusual affection for his Crown Victoria.
Morgan Grimes (Joshua Gomez):
Chuck's best friend. He works with Chuck at the Buy More. He's dating fellow Nerd Herder Anna Woo. He and Chuck enjoy playing gmaes such as Call Of Duty together. He has a ongoing crush on Chuck's sister, Ellie. Morgan has been known to gain access to Chuck's room using a window. He and Chuck always dressed up as a sandworm from the movie Dune for Halloween.
Ellie Bartowski (Sarah Lancaster):
Chuck's older sister. Their mom left them and it's implied that she raised him. We know nothing of their father. She is a doctor, working in the emergency room. She became engaged to her boyfriend Devon at the end of season one. She worries a lot about Chuck's love life.
Devon Woodcomb aka Captain Awesome (Ryan McPartlin):
Ellie's fiance. He works with Ellie at the hospital, his specialty is cardiology. We only recently learned his name, previously he was only referred to as "the Captain" or "Awesome" which is a word he uses frequently. He is constantly trying to give Chuck advice. He also is known to indulge in extreme activities such as white water rafting and likes to exercise to show off his body.
Bryce Larkin (Matthew Bomer):
The person responsible for putting the Intersect into Chuck's head. He used to be CIA but went rogue, working for Fulcrum. But recently he went back to working for the CIA again. He dated Chuck's ex-girlfriend Jill and Sarah Walker who he was once partnered with. He is also responsible for getting Chuck kicked out of Stanford. In his last visit, he was responsible for giving Chuck an update to the Intersect, ensuring that he would still be relevant to the government, much to Chuck's chagrin.
Anna Wu (Julia Ling):
Morgan's girlfriend and the only female on the Nerd Herd team. Her parents don't approve of what she does or of Morgan. She was recently shown to be very proficient in martial arts.
Lester Patel (Vik Sahay):
Nerd Herder, who in the second season was briefly made Assistant Manager of the Buy More, which he recently resigned. He has been seen hanging around with both Jeff and Morgan. And is apparently Jewish and Indian.
Jeff Barnes (Scott Krinsky):
Nerd Herder who hangs with Lester and Morgan on occasion. He's frequently drunk and disheveled. And he was once a champion at the arcade game Missile Command.
"Big Mike" Tucker (Mark Christopher Lawrence):
Manager of the Buy More. Avid fisherman and fairly hands off when it comes to his employees, but very protective of his store.
Harry Tang (C. S. Lee):
He was the original Assistant Manager of the Buy More, acting as a nemisis for the Nerd Herd and Chuck in particular. He stumbled into a mission and Casey pretended to bring him in on the case, sending Harry to Hawaii where he was never heard from again.
Emmett Milbarge (Tony Hale):
Originally brought in as an efficiency expert, Emmett is now the new Assistant Manager for the Buy More, questioning where Chuck goes when he disappears on missions.
General Diane Beckman (Bonnie Friedericy): Director of the NSA and Casey's immediate boss. Due to Director Graham's death at the beginning of the second season, she becomes the boss for both Casey and Sarah.
DiretorGraham (Tony Todd): Supervisory agent at the CIA and formerly Sarah's boss. He was killed at the beginning of the second season when booting up the new Intersect because of Fulcrum sabotage.

(it actually sounds pretty good, I may start watching it)
(this is me asking, is the slash for this show good?)
no subject
And OMG YES!!! This show is so very slashy. The subtext is text despite the canon het relationships. I'm a Chuck/Casey girl myself, with a side order of Morgan/Lester. But there's also fodder for Morgan/Chuck, Bryce/Chuck and I've even seen Awesome/Chuck.
