Why this must be read: I lost the link to this fic for a while and I regretted it. It's not the happiest story in the world, it's not all flowers and hearts, but it's one of the most powerful plots I've read when dealing with SH. SH are in a committed relationship, which makes the plot point hit that much harder. Prostitutes are being killed in Bay City and SH are assigned to the case. Two out of town detectives are assigned, too, and one of them is an old friend of Hutch's. One night of letting their guard down impacts the future of the SH relationship and almost costs Starsky his life.
