Why this must be read:

I really debated reccing this fic, because I haven't had a chance to offer any Ellison fic yet, but it just had to be done. This particular fic hits a huge kink of mine - outsider POV. And it does it not once, but twice.

James Ellison. Victor Henrickson. Two of the FBI's rising stars. Or at least, they were at one time. But every Goliath meets a David. [livejournal.com profile] freneticfloetry's story gives the readers a chance to absorb these two worlds that aren't so very different, not when you're sitting behind a badge.

This fic does a fantastic job of giving us insight into two characters who don't get a lot of screen time, and in so doing, insight into the main characters and the world they all inhabit. I really loved this fic and I'm so pleased to be able to rec it here!

Footsteps walk the line of the bar, heavy and even, and for a second it's perfect – he squints at the file and thinks to the beat, thumb working the end of the ballpoint. When they stop, close behind, he can't quite keep up.

"Twelve years out, and you're still sittin' in this hellhole." The voice speaks at his shoulder, laced with vague amusement. "Thought you would've moved up in the world."

"If it ain't broke." He'd look up, but he already knows what he'll see, and he's had his fill of smug for one day. "The place is convenient."
