Why this must be read:
While, as I mentioned, I generally like inexperienced!Reid, this story of a Reid who has been hooking up and learning quite a few sexual tricks along the way, enough to even surprise Morgan, is hot and fun. I love Morgan relentless curiosity once he finds out about Reid's experience and how he kind of gets in over his head once he and Reid hook up. Reid's sexuality is complex and fraught, and it's nice to see a first time where both parties experience doubt and uncertainty as the intimacy between them increases, and it makes them uncomfortable and vulnerable.
“Because I didn’t think you were the type to hook up,” Morgan answers semi-honestly. He doesn’t want to offend Reid by accusing him of being a virgin, but he knows that a simple shrug isn’t going to do the trick either. “So I’m curious. We have time to kill, and you look like you have a story to tell.”
“Not really,” Reid counters, cocking his head as he sits back in his chair. Morgan is shocked at how comfortable Reid looks, exactly the opposite of how he’d normally be acting … and completely different from how Morgan would’ve thought he would act around the topic of sex. Getting laid sure makes the guy calm down, Morgan catches himself thinking before he can stop himself.
“I’m sure it’s no more interesting than any of your one-night stands,” Reid adds, and yep, Morgan’s jaw has hit the floor again. Because, sure, yeah, Morgan’s been known to have some down time with a lady he just met, but … Reid? Up until this point, Morgan was sure that Reid, even if he wasn’t as virginal as Morgan had originally thought, was in no way capable of going down to a bar and picking someone up. He’d assumed that whoever Reid had met, it had been somewhere predictable, like the library or a coffee shop or wherever it was that nerds hung out on a Wednesday night.
Morgan wonders if he’s fallen into an alternate universe at this point, and underneath his breath he mutters, “Who are you, and what have you done to Reid?” Of course, this is spoken loud enough so that Reid could hear, and is rewarded with a look that’s half confusion, half bitterness.
“I’m twenty-six,” Reid says, words short and crisp. Truthfully, Morgan oftentimes forgets that Reid’s still in his mid-twenties; the things that come out of his mouth sound like decades of study and experience, but his pale skin and eager expressions belong on a child who is still trusting of the world and the people in it. Reid continues, either unaware or uncaring about the inner workings of Morgan’s brain, “I think I’m old enough to take care of myself when it comes to who I go to bed with.”
