Why this must be read:
This is sort of a dark, angsty AU, springing from some point in season 5 before Reckoning. Unable to deal with her one-sided love for Clark, and unable to deny the pull of desire, Chloe does something practically unforgivable to pull him in. The consequences and repercussions of her actions lead her to being alone, and running from anyone and everyone she cares about. Until, one day, he finds her. It's a sad, beautiful story, and though Chloe did something pretty terrible, the pain in Chloe's voice comes out crystal clear. This is honestly, in my opinion, one of Queen C's best works.
"I told you, I would always find you."
With those eight words, all my happiness leapt into my throat.
Could it be. Was it actually him?
I turned towards the voice and and as if mocking me, the shiny glint of red and gold on his chest blinded me in the setting sunlight. He still hasn't removed that damn rock from where I placed it around his neck all those months ago.
My happiness left me.
"You might as well as quit running."
"I can't."
I turn back towards the ocean. This isn't the first time he's found me, and it probably won't be the last. I had foolishly told myself that this time would be different. That after this much time he would have finally given up on me, but I know now, he never will.
