Why this must be read:
This is one of last year's NCIS Big Bang fics and yes, even though I was the main cheerleader while this fic was still a WIP, that is not the reason why I am reccing it. This story deals with the “What if?” scenario after 4x03 where Tony took the job in Spain after all.
Now we've seen this scenario a few times but nobody quite handled it like
chatona did. She gives each character time to meddle through all the hurt and disappointments of the past years all by themselves and in the process they heal. We get to see a strong side of Tony as leader we knew was there, the original characters introduced as his team in Spain find their way into your heart right from the start and even though his old team tries to lure him back to Washington, Tony stays firm and doesn't fall back into old patterns as I've seen many a writer make him do.
Personally, I think fandom rarely deals in a sensible way with the fallout of how the team treats Tony and how fucked up all their relationships to each other actually are without writing it completely over the top. This story? Deals with all of it in a way that makes sense and you can't not love every time your heart aches.

In fairness, this is probably some kind of group psychic backlash to how the show often goes completely over the top in the other direction. Poor Tony, NCIS's punching bag.
Great choices in recs so far, by the way. Our tastes are so much in sync that I'm quite worried that I'm not going to see a single new story because they'll all be my absolute favorites. ;)

Thanks, by the way. I'm glad you enjoyed the recs so far even though you knew them all already. I just thought I'd concentrate on authors who are good but have never been mentioned here for whatever reason. And hey, maybe I'm lucky and you'll see something you haven't read yet. You never know, right? ;)
