Mermaids Explained by xjestx (G)

Fandom: THE MAN FROM UNCLE
Pairing: none (but it can be interpreted as pre-slash between Napoleon and Illya if you're so inclined)
Length: 1000 words
Author on LJ:  [livejournal.com profile] xjestx
Author Website: None that I'm aware of
Why this must be read: This is another of the marvelous entries from last Christmas' Down the Chimney story exchange over on [livejournal.com profile] muncle . Napoleon has been given a truth serum by UNCLE to find out exactly what he told THRUSH while he was being interrogated, except that Napoleon isn't reacting to the truth serum as expected. The story is from Napoleon's jumbled POV and it's a delightfully drug-induced trip through hazy truths. The author has a charming style, one that I hope we all get to sample more of in the near future. "Mermaids Explained" is too short to give you a sample without giving away the stories enchanting style, but just trust me - this one is well worth your attention.

Hah! I felt the same way when I first decided to rec. You don't want to say the same thing that everyone else has said but you want to get across your enthusiasm. I usually like doing a quote from the story that is enticing but doesn't give anything away.

You don't have to worry though. You've been doing great so far. And I love that you've blown past the minimum number of recs for the month already. I was just starting to get into the fandom last year via Crack Van when we have a few dry months. Your recs have re-energized me. Thanks!
