Why this must be read: "When the Doctor stumbles into his own future, he takes the chance to find a way to co-exist with an old enemy. But such things are rarely easy, and always come with a price - particularly when the Master is involved." I think the author's summary descibes this story best. I loved the spot-on character voices and the amazing complex structure of the story, paradox upon paradox. The Doctor and the Master keep running into each other at the wrong time - literally, which is very accurate for their relationship in general. But when their timelines converge, the result is really unpredictable.
Dear Freak,
While I’m sure the look on your face right now is priceless, don’t worry your pretty little head. He’s not dead. He’s in a highly complicated state of physical and mental shutdown which, for the sake of your limited little human mind, I’ll refer to as a “coma”.
The good news is that even you shouldn’t be capable of screwing up taking care of him! Just in case you’re still as thick as I remember you were, though, a few helpful suggestions: don’t feed him or give him anything to drink. Or intravenous anything. His circulation, digestive system, and the rest aren’t working, so there’s not much point unless you want to fill his system up with things it can’t handle, which I rather assume you don’t. Other than that, it should be pretty obvious, even to you. Keep him warm, clean, comfortable, et cetera. He can’t hear you, so feel free to confess all your sordid little fantasies while you have the chance, and he’ll wake up on his own (unless he decides oblivion is preferable to you, and who’d blame him?)
Love and kisses,
The Master.
