WARNING: This fanfic contains references to Rumors / Set Photos / Spoilers for David Tennant's final episodes.
Why this must be read: The author describes this story as "basically a shipper-induced fantasy version of how [she]’d like the regeneration to go"--and that's pretty much what it is. My reaction to this story was basically, "Aww. Poor emo!Doctor and his man!pain." There's also a tiny, horrible part of me who would love to see the regeneration go like this, *just because* it would anger certain parts of fandom.
[Rose] laughed softly. Then her expression turned wistful. “Doctor?”
“Hmm?”
She released a shaky breath. “It didn’t need saying.”
It was a lie—he knew it was a lie—but it warmed him to hear it all the same.
