Warm-Blooded by Nickovetch (PG-13)
Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo / Illya Kuryakin
Length: approximately 1,200 words
Author on LJ:
nickovetch
Author Website: She has her own page on File 40 and several stories on Geocities which, for the moment, can be found through The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Fan Fiction Database
Why this must be read: Nickovetch has a lovely way with words and it is in this story, told from Napoleon's delirious POV, that it is never more in evidence. Her prose flows languidly as Napoleon lays bleeding on an unknown street in an unknown city attempting to find warmth once more as he falls towards darkness. If you're not crying or at least sniffling by the end of this one, well, there's just no hope for you.
Here's the opening paragraph:
Odd how the muzzle of his Special felt so cold against his cheek. Odd because he was slowly bleeding to death and felt half-frozen anyway. Why should the familiar steel feel that way to him? He shook his dark head groggily and tried to remember what he was waiting for. Something… no, wait, that wasn’t right. Someone. He could vaguely recall the form in his mind’s eye, specter-like in his twilight existence.

Howdy!
I wanted to thank you, not only for this rec, but for keeping up this month with so many and varied pieces. It's great to see such an active intrest in the fandom. Thanks for helping keep it alive. Rock on!
Thank you so much! I do what little bit I can. Recommending well-written stories is probably my favorite part!
I'm going to see if in December, when the small fandoms are the only ones to drive the van, if I can drive for ASJ. I don't think it's had a chance to play and I think it would be fun to re-introduce folks to the show. I'm sure I can find enough stories to make it worth everyone's time. (Hmm. Maybe I should look for the stories first...)

Nope. Not yet anyway. I'm gonna ask if we can have a short spin in December and hope for the best.
Let me know if you have any other tips on caches of ASJ fic, Oh-Guru-of-Small-Fandom-Fic. :)
There are a couple of places I've found stories...
Alias Smith & Jones FanFiction Archive at FanFiction.net (http://www.fanfiction.net/tv/Alias_Smith_Jones/)
Alias Smith and Jones FanFic (http://aliassmithandjonesfanfic.com/)

There isn't a lot, is there? I know there's some out there - well, some that isn't on LJ. I'll find it. I'm on the hunt. Actually there is ONE that I love but...I wanted to save it for December to recommend. That's terrible of me I know.
Oh heck, I give.
This is the first ASJ slash story I read and I keep going back to read it. It's very heavy through most of it though and I should warn you that it involves rape, so read at your own peril.
"Nights in the Wilderness" by Tenaya (http://www.devinemadness.com/tenaya/nights.htm)
You know, I didn't see any crossovers either. Weird.

Thanks for pointing me to my weekend reading. You rock!

You know, maybe we should move this conversation to the ASJ board. I'll do that, so be sure to chip in so I'm not all on my lonesome.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. It's a bit darker than the other stories I've recommended this time around so I was kind of worried. It's just so lovely though.
