Fate and Other Four-Letter Words, by Caroline Crane (NC17)
Fandom: Big Wolf on Campus
Pairing: Merton/Tommy
Author on LJ:
carolinecrane
Author Website: Desiderium Caritas
Why this must be read:
If you hang around BWoC fandom for any amount of time, you’re sure to run into Caroline Crane’s stories. If you’re lucky, she’ll be the *first* BWoC author you encounter. While I don’t always agree with her characterization (my version of the boys are dorkier, whereas hers are several steps removed from the silliness that is canon), Caroline Crane is always the first name that comes to mind when thinking of Big Wolf on Campus fanfiction.
Caroline Crane has a *lot* of BWoC fics, and I’ve been agonizing over which one to rec ever since I signed up to pimp BWoC. I settled on “Fate and Other Four-Letter Words,” because it has many of the elements of her other stories that I most enjoy: namely, first times, and confused boys stumbling towards something *more.* Caroline Crane is, without a doubt, one of my favourite writers when it comes to the ‘dorky boys finding love’ type of fanfic.
