The Power of Suggestion by Nataliya (PG-13)

Hello everybody, I'm back to drive the Man from UNCLE crack van for the second time. I hope you enjoy the drive, I'll try to vary the recs a little, I read slash and gen (even if I do tend towards slash most of the time *g*) but I have to have good banter between the guys and a semi-plausible plot. Well, if the UNCLE writers can legitimately try to pass of "death by hiccups" in one episode, I'm pretty sure the fans can come up with better LOL

On with the show!

Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Length: 2,803 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cousinnat
Author Website: The wonderful archive at Chrome and Gunmetal Madhouse has some, as does File 40
Why this must be read:

This fic features canon UNCLE villains, which I always love. The marvellously evil Dr. Egret makes an appearance in this one, and hypnotises Illya. This fic has snark, humour and captures the essense of the boys' relationship even without the slash part. They quip at each other exactly how they do in the episodes and even though there's no real plot, it's a hoot to read.

Here's an excerpt:

Serena came to my side and shoved my sleeve above my biceps. There was no possibility of escaping whatever they had planned for me, so I simply concentrated on making my mind a blank. I winced as Egret shoved the needle into my arm none too gently, then seated herself in front of me in a chair that matched my own. She stared into my eyes and appeared to grit her teeth in order to speak in a gentle tone.

"Now listen closely, Illya. I want you to relax and listen to my voice. Only my voice."

They must be joking.

Thanks for the rec - I loved Man from Uncle when I was younger (before I'd ever known what slash meant!)

Hi and welcome

(you're on my HP friends list)
If you're just wading in to MFU, you've got a lot of good reading ahead of you!

Wow - I didn't know I'd be recognized over here. I'm flattered. I've been in love w/MFU since way back; I suppose the m/m factor was a draw for me even back then, but I was too young to understand it. I recently got into MFU slash because of some fics on Yuletide this past year, and also because of TiraNog archiving her stories (she wrote under Rosemary) on her own site recently.

I started with HP slash, but got into Alex Rider (a Brit teen spy fandom if you're not familiar with it), which led me into the entire spy slash fandom - and what better spy slash can there be than MFU? (I love your icon btw)

With a user name like HPstrangelove? :-) It looked familiar so I checked my HP LJ.

Ro is definitely an asset to every fandom she's in! Hope you enjoy your reading - you obviously already know where to find the good stuff. :-)

Thanks! [livejournal.com profile] cousinnat, in fact, made it for me. :-) She's multitalented.

Also, most of her stories are on File 40 (http://file40.net/file40s.html) in addition to Chrome and Gunmetal. This is a great pick, btw.
