Why this must be read:
I actually bookmarked three of pir8fancier's fics for this month, yet this was the one I chose. (But, you know, read the others! They're equally awesome.)

It has always frustrated me how many stories are predicated on the fact that person A likes person B and the attraction is mutual but a failure to have one simple conversation prevents them from realizing it for thousands upon thousands of pointless, boring words. That... doesn't happen here. They still don't talk, but the author provides a reason why they don't talk. It makes sense.

Also, this is some of the best RayK voice that I've ever read. He's tough to get right!

It was stakeout nine thousand and fifty-six, and Ray just knew that, yeah, if something didn't happen soon, if someone didn't show their sorry ass, he was going to lose it and combust, leaving real small bits of himself all over the Goat and, man, his dad would kill him and the smell would probably be really gross because he'd had nachos that night for dinner and the bean factor alone...

No worries at all - and happy to do it! See, this is the problem with coming into a fandom that's been off the air for a while, and into a community (I really, really needed recs!) that's inactive as well. People move on, which sucks for newbies like me - but luckily there are still some links that work out there, and other artists/authors have added their older stories to sites like AO3.

Just me trying to pay it forward for others! :)

For what it's worth, I think most of the fandom has shifted to Tumblr (https://www.tumblr.com/search/due+south). Happy fic hunting!
