*D*U*S*T*E*D, by Bekquai (PG13)

Fandom: Big Wolf on Campus
Pairing: Merton/Tommy
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] realistik
Author Website: Fanfiction.net Profile
Why this must be read:

I find BWoC a fun fandom because there is room to play with so many fannish clichés, and I willingly admit to a fondness for a well-written cliché fic. In this story, Merton and Tommy fall under a spell--say it with me, folks--a *love spell!* This story has a nice blend of angst and humour, and I appreciate that this situation isn’t easy for the guys.

Merton, Tommy, and Lori also *feel* like teenagers, which is cool: they are flustered, confused and embarrassed. I’ve been reading about teenage characters since I first entered fandom, and have no problems with having them put into sexual situations. However, the BWoC characters act younger than those from shows like Buffy or Roswell, and I like that Bekquai recognizes their youth and inexperience.

A warning before you begin, though: this fic is a work-in-progress. There are only two more chapters, but I don’t know when they’ll be posted.

Damn she leaves off just before the good stuff. Though all the prelude to the good stuff was really good too, just not in a smutty way.

They really do, don't they? Which makes it really hard to write even remotely smutty stories around them.

Um. Not that I'm trying. Or would ever do that.

::cough::

And yet, I have a hard time seeing the characters engaging in sexual activity beyond kissing.

Well, yeah. And I get that part of it is because of YTV/ABC Family and the fact that it's a children's show, but for a children's show, they've got a surprising amount of innuendo. More than a lot of teenage-themed shows, actually. Hell, it's got more than Roswell's first *season*.

. . . Can I be hearing right? The possiblity of new BWoC fic?

Possibly. Which is a sneaky way of saying "I promise nothing until the story is done." It's surprisingly hard to write characters written as goofy as...less goofy, but still in character.

I spent last saturday reading Big Wolf on Campus fic, because you hooked me in with the last rec -- the quote from the fic, to be more precise -- and now I'm sad that there isn't any more.

And I don't even know the canon for this!

*grins* Kudos to you for excellent pimping.

And I find that I don't mind cliches like werewolf mating and love potions in this fandom. It may be because it's all new and shiny, but also because I did skim through an episode list, and it seems like reusing old plots is pretty much what BWoC is all about. ;)

Anyway, thank you for introducing me to this fandom's fiction. I'm having a great time. :)

I was afraid that people would look at my overview and say "what the *fuck* is *this?*" and happily ignore the recs. I'm pleased to hear that you're giving the fandom a try.

*grins* Dude, I grew up with Buffy, I read Terry Pratchett. Anything that riffs off movies/books/whathaveyou is pretty much my idea of geek heaven. And! With the Coreys as guest-stars!

...Also, they were kind of cute in the pictures and the quotes you'd chosen for the profiles made me 'heeh', which is always a plus. I think I like Merton.

In fact, if I knew the canon better, I'd be dabbling as we speak. *grins*

Damn, I'm easy.

This is why I want BWoC on DVD right *now.*

Oooh. This strikes me as a very good idea. Especially if they'd be cheap. *nodnods*
