*D*U*S*T*E*D, by Bekquai (PG13)
Fandom: Big Wolf on Campus
Pairing: Merton/Tommy
Author on LJ:
realistik
Author Website: Fanfiction.net Profile
Why this must be read:
I find BWoC a fun fandom because there is room to play with so many fannish clichés, and I willingly admit to a fondness for a well-written cliché fic. In this story, Merton and Tommy fall under a spell--say it with me, folks--a *love spell!* This story has a nice blend of angst and humour, and I appreciate that this situation isn’t easy for the guys.
Merton, Tommy, and Lori also *feel* like teenagers, which is cool: they are flustered, confused and embarrassed. I’ve been reading about teenage characters since I first entered fandom, and have no problems with having them put into sexual situations. However, the BWoC characters act younger than those from shows like Buffy or Roswell, and I like that Bekquai recognizes their youth and inexperience.
A warning before you begin, though: this fic is a work-in-progress. There are only two more chapters, but I don’t know when they’ll be posted.

They really do, don't they? Which makes it really hard to write even remotely smutty stories around them.
Um. Not that I'm trying. Or would ever do that.

It's *weird*--in season one, the viewer *knows* that Tommy is getting turned-on by Stacey regularly (wolfing out while his hand is up her shirt? Uh huh.) And yet, I have a hard time seeing the characters engaging in sexual activity beyond kissing.
It's a good thing that I'm so good at dividing my view of canon from my fanfiction preferences.

. . . Can I be hearing right? The possiblity of new BWoC fic?

Well, yeah. And I get that part of it is because of YTV/ABC Family and the fact that it's a children's show, but for a children's show, they've got a surprising amount of innuendo. More than a lot of teenage-themed shows, actually. Hell, it's got more than Roswell's first *season*.

Possibly. Which is a sneaky way of saying "I promise nothing until the story is done." It's surprisingly hard to write characters written as goofy as...less goofy, but still in character.

It's not *just* because it's a children's show. Not for me, at least. I mean, I have no problem reading [Unknown site tag]'s Justice League cartoon smut.
I don't write smut at all, so maybe this is a reader/writer divide.

Oh, yes. That's one of the first things that caught my attention--I was flipping through, and some comment or visiual made me stop and gape in surprise: "my God. Can they *do* that?" Have you checked out this list (http://www.geocities.com/bwocfics/rude.html) of adult humour moments? It's interesting stuff.

I'm delighted with even the possibility.

Mmm hmm. I embrace the clichéd goofiness in my own stories. It's easier :)
*amused*
And I don't even know the canon for this!
*grins* Kudos to you for excellent pimping.
And I find that I don't mind cliches like werewolf mating and love potions in this fandom. It may be because it's all new and shiny, but also because I did skim through an episode list, and it seems like reusing old plots is pretty much what BWoC is all about. ;)
Anyway, thank you for introducing me to this fandom's fiction. I'm having a great time. :)
Re: *amused*
Please ignore the delighting cackling you hear in the background.
I was afraid that people would look at my overview and say "what the *fuck* is *this?*" and happily ignore the recs. I'm pleased to hear that you're giving the fandom a try.

Exactly! By being clichéd, you're keeping your story canon-like *grin.*

And thank you for telling me that you're enjoying these stories.
Re: *amused*
*grins* Dude, I grew up with Buffy, I read Terry Pratchett. Anything that riffs off movies/books/whathaveyou is pretty much my idea of geek heaven. And! With the Coreys as guest-stars!
...Also, they were kind of cute in the pictures and the quotes you'd chosen for the profiles made me 'heeh', which is always a plus. I think I like Merton.
In fact, if I knew the canon better, I'd be dabbling as we speak. *grins*
Damn, I'm easy.
Re: *amused*
Almost everyone does. Various people want to snuggle him, and hug him, and protect him from the big, bad world (unless they're abusing him horribly in their own fics, of course).
In fact, if I knew the canon better, I'd be dabbling as we speak. *grins*
This is why I want BWoC on DVD right *now.*
I am so going to have to find out who to pester for BWoC's release on DVD.
Re: *amused*
Oooh. This strikes me as a very good idea. Especially if they'd be cheap. *nodnods*
