The Fire Escape by Sunsetmog (NC-17)

Fandom: Lotrips
Author: Sunsetmog
Author on lj: [livejournal.com profile] sunsetmog
Pairing: Billy/Dominic
Rating: NC-17 for sex and very bad language.
Warning: Very mild bloodplay

Why this must be read:

Because it's impossible to rec Lotrips without including at least one story which has Billy in a kilt. And this kicks ass besides. So Dom is happily not-attracted to Billy until Billy wears a kilt and then Dom's seriously in trouble. And cursing Orlando for making him wear Very. Tight. Jeans.

A great deal of Lotrips has encounters in clubs - it's practically a subgenre - but very few are entertaining and mind-meltingly hot and adorable. This is very well written; the characterisation is spot on - blindingly spot on, in fact. The story is well-paced and doesn't drag but neither does it go racing to the conclusion sacrificing the description. The pov switches from Dom to Billy about halfway through and then back to Dom and their thought-processes are endearingly surprised by the turn of events. The internal monologues are, incidentally, hilarious. Watch out for Dom's two assessements of the DJ and his description of what he's planning to do to Orlando in particular.

Also, this is hot. Can I stress that enough? Because, for about 20kb, it packs in a lot of hot into a relatively short space, given that there's plenty of characterisation and setting-of-the-scene and building up to it as well. While this isn't Sunsetmog's first lotrips fic, it is her first NC-17 fic - although you'd never be able to tell, so assured is the writing.

Dom never knew he had a thing for knees. Bare knees. Bare, Hairy knees. He'd never known because up until now, he'd never seen Billy in a kilt.

All he could say was that he was glad he was sitting down. Behind a table. With a full pint in front of him. And this was how he was going to stay, because he was buggered if he was standing up and revealing just how much the sight of his best mate's bare legs had affected him.

That was, of course, until the DJ (rotten, horrible, stinking, nasty, cunty DJ) had put on Tiffany, and before he knew it, Billy had cocked an eyebrow, nodded towards the dance floor, and grabbed his arm.

There hadn't been time to refuse, so now Dom was stuck on the dance floor, which was, of course, packed, because 'I Think We're Alone Now' always packs a dance floor, and he was definitely too close to Billy and that damned kilt.

And fucking, bloody, shitty Billy wasn't helping either, catching his eye and winking, and pulling him closer to whisper in his ear, "Looking a bit shell-shocked there, Dom. You alright?"

To which Dom had attempted to formulate a reply that didn't sound like 'You. Outside. Naked. Now'.
