This story has been recced before by a Man From U.N.C.L.E. driver, but I don't know how well-known it is to Avengers fans, and if you do not know it, you really should. Unlike my other crossover rec, this is not crackfic, or at least it's not any crackier than either show's canon. These two similarly ridiculous '60s' spy series with similarly unflappable, witty-banter-exchanging protagonists were truly meant to be crossed over, and

wiccagirl24 pulls it off with style, dead-on character voices and even a shred of plot. Although it's really Emma and Illya's story, as they free themselves from THRUSH imprisonment and discover an unlikely connection, my favorite part has got to be Steed dealing with suspicious Napoleon. Perfect Steed, and that is no mean feat. Seriously, though, the whole thing is wonderful.

“I presume you, like myself, are a prisoner of Thrush?” His tone was conversational, as if talking of being a prisoner was completely normal. Emma almost laughed, because in her world it was.

“Thrush?” she asked. “I don’t know who he is. I’m here because I was trying to stop Dr. Carter from poisoning England’s water.”

“Carter is simply a cog. Thrush is the machine. They are the ones funding Carter, presumably, and the ones who mean to profit from his work. Yet another attempt to take over the world,” he said with disgust.

“You mean there is an organized group of megalomaniacs? There’s a cheery thought.” Her neck starting to get sore from looking over her shoulder, Emma turned away from the blond haired man. “I’m Emma, by the way. If we are prisoners together it seems we should at least introduce ourselves.”
