Why this must be read:
Farscape's most notable villain - he joins the crew in Season Four, but that's another story - is the hybrid offspring of a Sebacean woman and the Scarran man who raped her, as part of a breeding program by the Scarrans. He was raised under brutal conditions by his father's species until he rebelled against his jailer/surrogate mother and escaped. He eventually joined the Peacekeepers, a Sebacean military organisation who are the Scarran's main opposition.
Scarrans and Sebaceans don't just hate each other for political reasons, they're biological opposites. Sebaceans can't stand high temperatures, suffering from 'heat delirium' and eventually severe brain damage under warm conditions. Scarrans produce high levels of heat, and can't stand the cold. Scorpius, as the barely-viable offspring of the two, has severe physical problems as well as deep psychological torment inflicted on him by his very nature.
This is a story about Scorpius and a baby, but as the author put it herself, not humour, not fluff, not romance and not a Mary Sue. Set during his time as a leading Peacekeeper scientist, the story follows his encounter with a Peacekeeper soldier who has been raped by Scarrans and given birth to a hybrid child.
This story shows Alara's usual insight into Scorpius and his motivations, demonstrating what sets him apart from other Peacekeepers as well as the Scarrans he was raised by. It also shows us just the tiniest chink in his thick emotional armor. The great thing about Scorpius as a character and a villain was how comprehensible his motivations came to seem over time. Turn things around a bit, and it's easy to see him as an anti-hero, struggling to protect his chosen species from the species that tortured him, and extract revenge in doing so. That's the Scorpius we see here.

Yes - there actually aren't many stories dealing with what must be the usual PK reaction to Scorpius, and I think this captured his personality perfectly.
