Waiting for the Weird by Kindkit (General Audiences)

Fandom: Due South

Length: 1890 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kindkit
Author Website: Kindkit’s Fic on AO3
Why this must be read: Not only has [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth written some wonderful Due South stories which have been recced here, she also has an amazing Multi Fandom Recs Page that I visit often. Many of my favorite Due South stories can be found there. Waiting for the Weird is one of those stories I read every time I visit the recs page, and I never grow tired of it (sidenote: the story is incorrectly listed as one of Sage's and the link is wrong, but I love the story enough to hunt it down. I'm not sure what happened to the original link and as far as I know all other links on the page are correct. The story is sweet and so full of Ray and Fraser's love for each other. I love the way we see Fraser through Ray's eyes and see not only how much Ray loves Fraser, but how much Fraser makes Ray feel loved. One of my happy place, comfort stories.

Fraser looks concerned for a couple of seconds, and Ray crumples. "I'm just waiting for us all to be taken hostage by -" he looks around for a likely reason and settles on the buffet table "- by the Fish Liberation Society. Or something. You know."

"I think the smoked salmon is past being liberated, Ray."

Ray's not sure whether to crack up or punch Fraser in the head. This is a feeling he's used to by now. "You know what I mean. I'm waiting for all the little iron filings of weirdness to come flying toward the giant weird magnet, which is you."

That was gorgeous - and the first fic I have now read in Due South - so thank you for this:-)

Aieee! I can't believe I've had the wrong link (and the wrong author *g*) listed for such a long time. Correcting it now...and if you see any other similar mistakes, please let me know!

I wrote the story for Sage in the Due South Secret Santa ficathon some years ago, so that probably explains the mix-up. My guess is that your original link was to Sage's link to the story.

Actually, no...the original link was to one of Sage's SGA stories, so...I DON'T EVEN KNOW. :)

Ooh, thanks for the rec! And for tracking the story down. I'm thrilled that you liked it so much.

*marks that one off my list for next month, and smiles broadly*

Great story, isn't it? Kit's one of my favorite writers in a couple of fandoms.

Julia, never gladder to be back to the drawing board.

Aw, yay! I had the broken link too, and I've been meaning to track it down. Thank you for recommending it, I love it.
