Howdy; I'm
julia_here back to drive the due South fandom part of
crack_van for February. I'll be alternating between stories written since my last turn at the wheel and classics I can't believe have never been recommended here. I view this place as a resource for new members of the fandom first, and secondly as a place for those of us who've been reading for a while to be reminded of what we may have forgotten/surprised by what we've missed.
I'm hoping that I'll have a pretty good balance of pairings and styles, but all I can promise for sure is that they will all be stories I've liked a whole lot.
Fandom:DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Kowalski/Fraser
Length: short story
Author on LJ:
seperis
Author Website: Indulgence
Why this must be read: Because one of the greatest joys of Due South is Ray Kowalski's ability to drag Benton Fraser back from the point where doing one's duty becomes frank madness; because Seperis has a firm grasp of Turnbull and Welsh's contrasting concepts of law enforcment practices, and because of the cats.
Ray feels a faint sense of foreboding when he realizes he hasn't seen Fraser in two days. Not since one (1) argument about something that wasn't even a case, was like the epitome of not-a-case, and since it involved cats, Dief had been totally with him. Which in retrospect, bad idea to crow about that shit, because they'd been sixteen hours into plus one hundred degrees and Fraser's stoicism had slammed into the fact he wears three layers of clothes, and all bets were off. Ray can't remember exactly what was said, but cold day in hell may have been involved. And maybe leaving Fraser downtown when he (stoically) refused to get back in the car.
Picking up the phone, Ray shoots a glare at the sun hovering outside the station window and dials the consulate, because he can be the bigger man.
